Those who gave their lives from Yarm ______________________________________

ADAMSON, Percy William Pte 2394 1/4th Bn East Yorkshire Regiment

Return to Yarm Roll Call

The following was taken from the Yorkshire Regiment website

Died of wounds on 9 May 1915 aged 28. Son of John Adamson, headmaster of Yarm School and member of the Parish Council, and his wife Elizabeth, both of High St, Yarm. He had been born in Yarm and was living there at the time of his enlistment at Londesborough Barracks, Hull. Longuenesse (St Omer) Souvenir Cem, France

Yarm1914 research indicates that according to the 1911 census, Percy was born in Yarm and lived with his parents, two sisters and his brother. He was a grocers assistant by trade along with younger brother Cecil Henry born the year after. There appears to be no records of Cecil Henry Adamson in the war records.

Percy William is remembered on the Yarm and Parish church memorials.
